Hannah Boone

Hannah Boone was born November 1, 1765 in Exeter Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania “on the 6th Day of the Week, about 4 o’clock in the Afternoon.” according to the James Boone Genealogy (1). She was the oldest of three children that John Boone and Sophia Weidner had. Hannah was 8 years old when her father died.

Hannah married Richard Tea II between 1785 and 1790. That is the year her son William was supposed to have been born. There is also a Hannah Boone listed in the 1790 Census for Amity, Pennsylvania (2). The Census was taken on August 2, 1790. William was born in November, but I have not found a birth record for him yet, so possibly it wasn’t 1790, but actually 1791.

Hannah and Richard had many children together. The children I have found are William Tea (1790-1843), James Tea (1794-1840), Mary Elizabeth Tea (1795-1828?), Richard Tea (1797-?), Josiah Tea (1800-1859?), Samuel Tea (1801-1837), and George Washington Tea (1804-1861). Other children listed on various sites are a Charles Tea (1785-1816) and a Nantsy Tea (1798-1841).

Hannah survived her husband by seven years. She died August 4, 1853. She lived her whole life in Berks County, Pennsylvania. She is buried in the Exeter Friends Meeting house graveyard. She is in the 4th row, grave 21 (3). There are no markers in Quaker graveyards (at least from that era).
